The Tax Poem

At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful
truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

CDL license Tax

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest
middleclass in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What the heck happened? Can you spell "politicians?"

And I still have to "press 1" for English!?

I just sent a reply to an e-mail sent by our county freeholders. They told us they "get it" and would be trying to hold or lower the county's budget but tax buyer responsibility would increase a mere 2.5%. I went on a tirade in an e-mail in response.

I live in a state that was one of the original 13, a state for 200+ years, a town that was first incorporated in 1666. I'm 55 and remember sales tax starting @ 3%, now 7%, income tax was added and increased, started the lottery to increase revenues, opened Atlantic city to gambling for the same reason. Each came with promises of resolving our financial problems. Add to this all taxes & fees that I have seen them add or increase. Why is our state in such a fiscal mess? The state should have money coming out it's ears.

ANSWER? None

Sorry I have to be the realist but some of the taxes were in place 100+ years ago, mostly the sin taxes. But I understand what is being said. We shouldn't be having these problems. While I would love to get "back to the basics" I still think we have one of the best countries and wouldn't trade if for anything. God I miss home, try living over seas and not with the military, it makes you realize how great your own home country is.
