I just received an Email from Leupold announcing the rebirth of Redfield scopes. Made in America by Leupold. It sounds like it might be a winner to me.

Stumps me why in the world Leupold would spread its resources like that. If they want to produce the Redfields as lower cost quality items, they already have that in the VI and VII. If they wanted to use it to make a more expensive scope, they already have that in the VX7. So, I just can't imagine why.

I guess I will soon find out.

I was wondering if this will replace their Rifleman line of scopes as an entry level American made scope. As I understand it their glass is made to order in Japan as are most lenses these days. Just a matter of the glass quality and coatings ordered. Leupold still makes one heck of a scope, although it's been a quite a number of years since I bought one.

If I could, I would own nothing BUT Leupolds. Own two of them and wish I had another for my predator rifle.

Interesting idea about replacing the Rifleman. Didn't think of that.

Except they will not honor the warranty on mine as it is pre Leupold. An actual Redfield Golden 5 Star Compact 3 X 9 (Life time warranty)...I know. I asked...
