while i'm on a roll or soapbox hard to tell, the 8mm's seem to be a great compromise on bullet weight or velocity you can go either way without too much punishment, with bullet weights from 125 to 250 it seems just about right for North Americans if you need a mag there is always the 8mm Rem or venerable 8x68 and the oh so common 8x57 seems to perform without much fuss.

I can't say as I have to disagree with you VInce, however could you afford to shoot it. Them suckers use almost a pound of powder per round. (just kidding). But they sure do use a lot of powder and as for bullets, brass and primers, wow. I live in the northern interior of B.C. Canada and I went out and bought a 375H&H and I love it. Felt recoil is nothing, not near what the 300 Weatherby produces. Load it up for grizz or load it down for deer sized game. A very versatile round indeed.

My "love affair" with the big .50 started when I was in the Army and got to shoot a .50 BMG mounted beside a .30 BMG in my M113 APC.

Could I afford to shoot it...no chance, could I afford to even buy one...no way, especially because they are illegal in Australia.

Still...there is nothing that any other calibre can do that the BIG .50 can't...short of nice clean head shots on bunnies without destroying the rest of the body along with the head. Very Happy Very Happy Laughing

Cheers, Vince
