Even dead soft lead will ruin the wear ponts on the toughest presses. I had to repair my Rock-Crusher after a short period swaging pure lead bullets. If you are serious about swaging your own get a swage press and die set.

Ahh, this discussion is finally got to the part that I wish for Smile

PaulS, Which part of the rock Chucker damaged due to swaging?
If I know where is the vulnerable part I could try to toughen that before I start.

All the steel hinge pins wore into the cast frame and links. I made hardened pins and bored the holes for needle bearings. Even with the mods there is still some flex with half jacket soft lead. I decided that if I was going to swage any more I would buy a press made to do it and with hydraulics. I never knew the kind of pressure it took to form soft lead.
