And since when do people with non-registered firearms or illegal firearms go to shooting or gun clubs?

Not making excuses but unfortunately it probably wasn't Police that came up with the idea but some limp wristed, anti gun, panic induced Sh1t for brains politician who has then ordered the Police to sort it out. Thats what usually happens!

good on ya Radar we need a calming influence onboard here. the policy makers and the people who have to carry them out are often poles apart in thinking but the guy on the street HAS to do what the boss says.its the same with fish and game. for another comparison how about an arcitect and a builder the plans/blueprints look grate all those corners and multi sloping roofs. the builder says WTF was he thinking hard work and more hard work for f#*k all gain its weaker shed water less and will be a pain in the butt to insulate. dont blame the guy on the end of the line they have a right prick of a job to do and usually do their best to be as fair as they can.
