My budd bought a new 7 rem mag in browning a-bolt to replace one that was stolen. After going to the range with his father (a retired deputy Sheriff) he came back saying his rifle point of impact would move to the right and down as his barrel warmed up with repeated firings. Does anyone know anything about this, and if so can something be done about it.

Very common for rifles to change point of impact as they heat up. Usually it is of little consequence in a big game rifle where normally only a few shots will be fired. A few things could be done to improve the situation. I am not a Browning man so I dont know if the A-Bolts are free floated or not. If the barrel is making contact with stock this will cause point of impact shift to happen faster in most rifles. Another option is Cryrogenic treatment of the Barreled action which reduces the internal stresses of the barrel steel. As the barrel heats up if there are internal stresses this can change point of impact.

Sounds like it could be bedding problem. Need to remove the barrel and action from the stock and ceck to see if their any obvious tight spots.

Welcome to the HuntingNut phawk. I agree with the above posts I would look at the stock for bedding issues and then again some rifles are just finicky that way. Let us know how ya make out.

Run a slow three shot string. Let it cool and run another Slow three shot string. Let it cool and run one more slow three shot string... Remove the bolt, run a brush up the barrel from breech to muzzle. Run a patch from breech to muzzle between each three shot string. Then let us know what that rifle did...This will give us a better picture...

I have the same problem with my Browning A-Bolt Hunter in .243. The problem is that the barrel is made to be lighter for easier carryin. After three or four shots the barrel heats up and the accuracy starts to vary. Just let it cool between groups and it will be fine.
