We were drawn for third season 11 and 211 deer. First time for me in CO and with a little research Axial Basin comes up a lot. I also hear that it is a very popular spot. We are staying in Meeker and I was wondering what the general consensus is and what about areas closer to Meeker. My friend and I don’t mind hiking a little but we both have bad backs and knees. We both like hunting down hill with roads at both ends. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks Joe for the reply. I just figured everyone was out scouting or hunting this weekend and too busy to answer. I found a few sources of good info locally and between Google earth and my BLM maps I will certainly have plenty of area to hunt. I just don't like a lot of company when I hunt and it sounds like Axial Basin can be a war zone. I hooked up with an old buddy that moved to Meeker for about five years and then returned back home because the long cold winters. I spent about 3 hours with him today and we came up with a game plan. Hope I can post some photos when we get back.
