I just sent my new Savage Model 12 FLV .223 varmit gun off to my gunsmith to be converted to a .22-.240 Weatherby Magnum. A friend of mine had one built from scratch and it sure is sweet. He shoots an 80 grain Nosler .224 hollow point at 3675 fps into .2 groups. It only drops 8 inches at 400 yards.
I have another Savage .223 Model 12 that shoots a .35 group so I know it's accurate. I hope to get 3700+ fps w/ 75 grain bullets. My plan is to use Hornady A-max's on varmits and the new Swift Scirrocco's on East Texas deer.
It should take about three weeks or so to finish. I'll let ya'll know how it shoots when I get it back.
