New state record deer measured at Oklahoma Wildlife Expo

A massive, 31-point, non-typical, whitetail deer rack was officially scored at the Oklahoma Wildlife Expo at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 27, at the main stage inside the Lazy E Arena.

“This is the biggest news in Oklahoma deer hunting in a very long time,” said Alan Peoples, wildlife chief for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. “From the initial look at the antlers this deer could surpass both the number one Cy Curtis record and the top Oklahoma Boone and Crockett entry, which are currently two different deer.”

Mike Crossland killed the huge buck in Tillman County during the 2004 deer gun season. The antlers were held as evidence in a court case and Crossland took possession of them August 2 when the case was dismissed by a Tillman County judge.

The old non-typical Cy Curtis record whitetail was taken in 2003 in Hughes County, scored 240 3/8 and had a total of 29 points. The current Boone and Crockett record non-typical whitetail was taken in Johnston County in 1970 with a score of 247 2/8.

Mike Crossland's buck became the new non-typical Cy Curtis record whitetail with a score of 248 6/8 and had a total of 31 points. This bucks score also exceeds the current Boone and Crocket record score.

Yea thats a huge whitetail. I love the look of it, and its droptines. Someday I hope to bag a buck with a dropper.
