Contact Llama and give them the serial number and they should be able to tell you when it was made.

According to my research tonight it was made in 1974. I had to follow the clues all over the internet. It was imported by Stoeger so that was after 1955, the markings on it showed after 1931, that lead to another site that told me the vent rib was after 1955ish, then I finally found the date codes mine is an S1 which is for 1974 as far as I can figure. I must say that it is in very good shape for '74 I'd say 99.5%. Smile

This is the site I finally got to.

Can you get a copy of the 2009 book of gun values ?They could probably give you the right date .

Gidday Wiersay old mate,

Is the engraving from the factory or is it something that you think may have been done as an "optional extra" on purchase?

Whichever way mate, engraving like that is something that would be recorded either by the Custom Shop or by the engraver. I feel pretty certain that the engraver would be "recognised" by someone who is familiar with this work. You could then communicate with the engraver who should be able to give you some sort of background on the piece...maybe even the old owner. It would be a bit like doing a Genealogy search, but achievable.

Cheers, Vince

Are the date codes the same for the 9mm largo and the .380 ???

Vince these guns were factory engraved in either chrome or blued, wiersy's is a deluxe model with the simulated pearl grips and vent rib.
There was also a gold option, never seen that one!!!

As a side-note: A friend of mine has the twin to yours. I used to make fun of it and the cartridge and made good-natured speculation concerning him and the kind of man that would carry or use one that looked like that!

Then I shot it...and my opinion took a radical turn. Heck with the looks; that darned thing could shoot!

As far as I can tell the dates are the same but I am going to search more. I would love to get my hands on the gold version.
