Well I finally joined the AR crowd and built an Anderson(sen) lower with a DPMS Lower Kit and a Magpul M.O.E. black grip and a Magpul oversized trigger guard. And a SOTA Arms built upper in 6.8SPC. Price was too good to pass up for what I could get the components for and do it myself. And the 6.8 has been on my mind for some time now. And I like the oddball cartridges it seems.

Twist is 1-11 out of a 16" barrel With a FIXED muzzle brake/compensator to get her within spec. Smile And it is a MASSIVE one too!

I know all of the start low and work up stuff. Been doing the loading game for over 30 years now.

But I was wondering what if anything folks were seeing good results with that might give me a clue as to where to start with this one when I do finally get enough cash again to start loading for it.

Thank ya' much.
Arron

Wow!! Who are you calling oddball!?!? There is nothing oddball about the 6.8!!!

Yep, Elvis has me pegged. I'm a 6.8 addict.

Here is a link to help you sort through the great selection of 6.8mm-specific bullets. Navigate back up to the ammo & reloading section to find specifics on every bullet and what folks are using for recipes. Beware, you can push the 6.8 well above max as the expense of brass life and many on the forum are posting loads that I believe exceed the 58,000 psi SPC II max chamber pressure and are North of 60,000.

6.8 is number 2 in AR sales and number 1 as the most popular hunting caliber in the AR platform. Just look at the number of views threads get on 68forums.com.

Elvis,
A 270 uses a .277 inch diameter bullet. the 7mm-08 has always used a .284 bullet.

I have never heard of a 308/270. The only 270s listed in any of my manuals are the 270 Winchester, the 270 Winchester short magnum and the 270 Weatherbymagnum

If you took a 270 Winchester and made it into a 7mm it would be identical to the 280 Remington.

I am confused why you think a 7mm is a 270?

Paul, Elvis is just on this kick about the .270 being the real 7mm. He has hijacked a couple other threads with this double-speak. Elvis, I love you man!

OK, I guess I was left on the outside of that joke.

I thought he was being serious and I felt really confused. It doesn't happen often so it worries me a tad. Wink

6.8mm rounds to 7mm. Close enough for government work.
