Southern Ontario is somewhere on the other side of the international date line. Ya learn somethin new ever day. Even your posted date says Dec 7th 2:46AM and here it is 8pm on the 6th in Oregon. Ontario should be 2 to 3 hr. behind Oregon....I'm confused...anyway that was an interesting post with the entire speech, never heard the whole thing before .

Thanks Dimi!

FDR had quite a voice and certainty about his convictions. Our current stand-in would never be so strong and convincing, he'd have too many aahhhhhs and pauses while he tried to read from the prompter. He'd also probably loose his bladder behind the podium and soil his silk panties.

I guess I don't!!! my post time was also Dec. 7th but the thing is, I read the post on the 6th, which is not the anniversary. I just looked over my account and don't see any way to change the time stamp.

Its never nice being king hit, but it was the only chance the Japanese had of beating the USA, IF they had caught your carriers in port.
As it was all it really did was motivate the USA to finally get involved in another european war.
In hindsight its the worst possible thing the Axis powers could have done, until then they had the upper hand on all fronts and the allies and commonwealth were struggling.
The rest as they say is history.
I visited Pearl harbour and the Arizona memorial 30 yrs ago, a very sobering sight.
Lest we forget.

I agree totally Elvis. The battle of the Coral Sea was just one of the things that helped save Australia and New Zealand from the Japanese. Another, and probably one of the more important was the Battle for Milne Bay when the Aussies kicked Jap butt...the first land defeat the Japanese suffered. This was quickly followed by the American soldiers kicking them all the way back to Japan. The Japanese made a HUGE mistake "king hitting" the US Navy at Pearl Harbour...they awakened a snarling angry beast that they could never hope to beat...and that "angry beast" let them know in no uncertain terms just how big a mistake they made...at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Thank you to all the soldiers, sailors and airmen of all nations who joined together to bring peace to the world, especially the Pacific, during WW II. Salute Salute Cheers Cheers

Cheers, Vince
