California law that requires firearms to imprint a unique “microstamp”
From one of the conservative FreeRepublic.com sites that I belong to. At least some of the manufacturing people are willing to stand-up against the gun grabbers.

www.freerepublic.com/f...5430/posts

To the author of that law...

I’m a firearms manufacturer and developer. I’ve got years of experience in the firearms field, more so than the author of that law.

So, chew on this... microstamping creates sharp edges inside the chamber and on the firing pin. This will lead to hot spots in the chamber and potential failure points on the cartridge case. This is a safety concern and potentially fatal issue.

Should an injury occur because of microstamping, I will be happy to testify against you in court along with other experts in my field.

I can prove scientifically that microstamping is dangerous and an unnecessary hazard to the operator of the firearm. I guess I’ll be seeing you in court at some point.

Oh, and my company is reaffirming its decision to not sell to the state of California or any law enforcement or government agencies there.

How does micro-stamping the firing pin create sharp edges in the chamber?

it sounds like the micro stamp could be in the chamber wall also. If its on the firing pin, that only takes a couple of minutes to change it out for a clean firing pin. Just plain Stupid.

Stupid is right Slim, what about revolvers that do not expend cases?

Or taking a file to the firing pin (or exchange it) to file down the impressions!

gee I guess matching rifling to a bullet is too hard as you have to test fire the gun to get a "sample" first.

A guns rifling marks on a bullet change naturally over time and all you need to do is run a round file down the bore once and it is completely different. The micro-stamping of firing pins can cause the primer to be pierced and you get a face full of hot gasses from the chamber. If they micro-stamp the chamber it will cut the cartridge cases and they will pierce and then collapse from the pressure. I doubt many of the gun makers will bother to sell in the Republik of Kalifornica in the future. I know that Ruger and S&W have pulled out.

I think their general strategy is to mico engrave both.
The true intent is embuggerance, many and meaningless hoops for firearm owners to jump through.

As to failure of the chamber and primers, just how "micro" are these stampings?

It wouldnt be hard to carry out a finite element analysis in a cad program like solidworks to give a ball park figure for the number of rounds until failure. I suspect both S&W and Ruger are capale of doing this, but why do the antis work for them. Simpler to just pull the pin on dickheads and leave them to it.

Embuggerance, what a great word!! you don't even have to look it up, it's self explanatory.

I'm with Pete...a total embuggerance designed to do nothing other than make life difficult for the firearms manufacturers and owners.

Be interesting to see how the sunny State of Northern Mexico Embarassed sorry, Kalifornicastion, will function when it's Police Sherrifs, Depooties and Posses' can no longer get the firearms they have repaired or buy new replacement firearms from the manufacturers. Back to homemade bows, arrows and spears guys...either that or they keep the firearms confiscated from the crims.

Haha Haha Haha Haha Haha Haha

Vince, I think the law exempts the cops.

Its yet another example of the stupidity of politicians, and those who elected them.

Let's see here. I go to Pumpkinslinger's range and pick up a few of his "micro-stamped" cases. Go to someones home that I hate and kill him with my revolver and throw a few of Pumpkinslinger's empty "micro-stamped" cases at the scene.

Yup...That'll work.
