Front sling stud too long for bipod?

So I went to put a bipod on the new AR I bought, and it appears the forearm stud is about 1/8th inch too long. This gun has a round varminter forearm so a bipod has to mount via the stud. The universal adapter nut hits the cross screw before it can tighten down the mount.

The adapter looks like this:

I have a second bipod that mounts via the sling stud but it has the same issue. I'm surprised on a rifle like this the sling stud would be a problem. The only thing I can think of is making a shim out of a big washer (seems like it would make it loosen easier) or replacing the stud (something I hate to do on a brand new gun).

Kindof stumped.

Try the washer idea first and see how it goes, after that throw money at it Wink

Why not fit another separate sling swivel to connect the bipod to Dallan?

The bipod on my Weatherby mounts on the sling swivel stud, but I am thinking about fitting another stud solely for the bipod. Another option is to fit a picatinney rail so that you can not only fit a bipod, but other useful "accessories" as well.

UPDATE:

I bought a M14 washer at the local hardware store that was only slightly larger than the tightening nut of the universal mount. I took a hacksaw and cut notches on the inside of the washer to slip over the cross screw then reassembled everything. Worked great! The 1/8th inch thick washer allowed the universal mount to tighten down just fine now.

LOL last time I tried a light touch with an angle grinder I ended up having to order a new part and use a file. Embarassed

Grinder wouldn't help as it wasn't the overall length of the stud that was the problem, the problem was the distance from the stock to the stud QD hole was too great. The stud was longer than a normal stud and the QD hole was further out than normal hence the universal kit not tightening down properly.

What happens when you turn that nut down on the stud? Doesn't it secure your bipod?
It's or that, or screw that stud farther in the mount so it extends less. (and afterwards secure the stud with that nut again).

Meaning: or that nut is meant so secure the stud to the mount (and then you could screw that stud a little deeper), or it's meant to secure the bipod to the stud (and then you screw the nut out).

No. It hit the cross screw before it could tighten down the mount. I guess I need to disassemble it and take pictures lol
