Sen. Markey(D-Mass) introduced a bill which would give $10M per year for six years to the CDC to study gun violence under the Public Health Service Act. The Senator says, “The epidemic of gun violence in America is not preordained, it is preventable" See the Senators use of the word epidemic? Of course we would want the CDC to study epidemics, that's their job! So they will fund this study and come up with their own facts aimed at controlling, not violence, but guns. After all this insane love of guns Americans have must be the problem and the reason we have such a high per capita murder rate. So just where do we sit when it comes to national murder rate? Well out of 200+ countries we are.....number 111 with 4.6 murders per 100,000 residents per year. Well if guns are the problem, how can that be? We own 90 guns for every 100 residents which as a nation puts us way up there on top of gun ownership for any nation on earth. So which country is number one in murder rates, Socialist gun controlled Honduras. So why then if we have so many guns aren't we the number one country for murders? Because of places like Plano, Texas. Every house in that town is chock full of AKs and ARs, they have revolvers and Glocks and 1911s, but their murder rate is only 0.4 per 100,000 residents. Now such cities as Liberal gun controlled Detroit has a murder rate of 54.6 which if they were a country would place them in the number two spot behind Honduras. Matter of fact all of the top murder rates belong to Liberal gun controlled cities, New Orleans, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Newark to round out the top five. Now we could probable save that $60M in studies by looking at these facts, that the number of guns does not raise the murder rate, but actually lowers the murder rate. Maybe we could leave inanimate objects out of the study and just study violence? Of course these are not the facts that this study will be looking for and they will surely come up with a more convenient set of facts that points the finger of blame at gun ownership which more closely suits their agenda and justification for more gun control. If the Liberals get their way someday we might be number one!

I don't know the last federal study by the health department showed the there were more people who used guns to stop or prevent a crime every day then there are murders in a year. They found that Americans used guns to prevent or stop crimes between 1 and 3 million times a year. So, guns are good, criminals are bad.

The facts haven't changed anyone's mind one way or the other. The pro gun folks still know guns are good and the anti gun folks still know guns are evil.

Now, now, let's not muddy the water with logic and common sense. "Liberals" (read that social fascists) know how to live OUR lives better than we do. If you don't believe me just ask one.

Let me save you lot 60 mill.
The answer is those non sentient, inanimate evil guns.
Some are even "self loading" dont ya know.
They are the cause of all violence, crime, rape, theft etc.
They pulled the same shite over here glossed up as a "public health" issue.
They will just keep pi££ing money up against the wall until they get the answer they want.
Thank god and some far sighted founding fathers you have your constitution and the NRA to beat these morons off.
You guys are the perpetual thorn in the side of the international anti gun movement (read UN) who think we will all sit around as one big happy group and sing kumbyyar when only the good governments have the guns.
So from the rest if us that dont have a constitutional right to bear arms and who are being nibbled to death by ducks on gun issues, dont you dare let them win.

I don't really care what they come up with as a result of their study. They should have the CDC do a study of the health risks involved in trying to take away my rights. My Constitution acknowledges that I have a right to own the guns I have and anyone that tries to take them away is also trying to take my rights. These rights are in place, not to allow me to hunt ducks, not so that I can shoot at paper, but rather to defend myself and to defend my rights against a tyrannical government. I was born with these rights, they were not given to me by some government in D.C. and they cannot be taken away by any government. Rights are owed to people, not granted to them. It is the job of my government to protect my rights, not to regulate or deny them. I will not comply!

BigBlue,
You are exactly right!
The right to defend one's self is is provided to all living things at birth.
Should the antelope have its horns cut off so it can get along better with the lion?
Should the deer have its antlers and hooves modified so it can get along better with the wolf?
Should people have their means of defending themselves taken away?
Are we less than an animal?
We all have the same rights. Those rights are not provided by a piece of paper nor are they granted by a government. They are listed in our constitution to be protected by the government not so they can be restricted by it.

I would say OWNED by the people not owed. All the government has to do is to afirm a right that is in place by for and of the people.
Thus endth my rant. By your leave, I retire
