the problem now is how do you know if thier poisoned???
We eat what we shoot and the thought that someone is allowed to poison them really grates.
I have only started to get the goose bug and now the rules have gone its going to be a whole new ball game.

the geese have a temperary reprieve, the legeslation hasnt gone through YET so untill it does its status qou they are still undr fish&game control when the powers that be change status we then have 28 day notification period till it takes effect. they are saying poison wont be allowed the farmers will be able to chase geese off thier crops from the house with a centerfire, bet those cunning honkers will come back after dark anyway.

wow this was a long while back now...they have had no protection for years now and numbers have if anything gone up as guys arent targeting them the same...we bagged 11 this duck shooting weekend just gone,I took 9 of those with a u/o and got 7 of them in one go when I managed to stalk to within 40 yards of large mob on the ground (2-300 birds)
they were really quiet on Thursday but are very spooky now....I guess 20 got taken from that mob over the weekend between the 20ish hunters up on lake.

We have a similar problem here in Alberta with the snow goose. For the first time in recnt memory we had a spring hunt for snows with a bag limit of 50. Yes that says 50, not a typo. Unfortunately for me we don't see snows are my neck of the woods.

Very Happy I get to look out my living room window every morn and eve into my neighbors pasture(20)acres and see 5 pairs of canadian honkers grazing alongside of his cattle.Wonderful to watch-even better to eat after slow smoking over apple wood/pearwood smoke.Biggest problem here is that they are still protected by the feds!!! Laughing

while jump shooting yesterday we found mob of over 100 honkers and left them alone...moved another 50 yards down to where mallards were and jumped them getting 5...then a parrie that came for a look..the honkers just sat and watched from less than 150 yards away!!!! the moved off while we retrieving birds. we sat and plucked ducks and 9 honkers landed 60 yards away and proceeded to graze. neat to watch them while plucking ducks,we left honkers in peace for a mate to have go at properly with layout blinds and dekes.

Goose Tit McNuggets

cubed into 1" or smaller pieces of goose breast(or duck)
plastic bag of breadcrumbs, flour and seasonings
pop cubes in and shake to coat then quick fry
or better still and our usual is to batter them...they just like bought ones but taste better and are better for you

Scratch is a Whistling Swan similar to the everyday common old white or black swan Dallan? I know they used to cook and eat swan in England back in the days when men were men and pansies were flowers, but haven't heard of it as table fare these days.
