Over the years I have acquired a vast amount of shooting and hunting stuff. Lately, I have been discarding, selling and trading stuff that I no longer need. Last evening I came across magazines for my Beretta Model 84 .380 semi-auto that I bought years ago and forgot about. While I was looking into boxes I found other stuff that I can use and cannot recall how or when I got it. One of these days I will attempt to do a full inventory, but really doubt that will happen. It is pleasing to find stuff that i can use and am glad I got it when I did. Anyone else have too much stuff? All the best...

Mate, I’m a “hoarder” from way back. I firmly believe that if you discard something that is useful, you will go looking for it shortly afterward.

I was raised with the attitude of “waste not, want not” and you should never discard something that can be used or reused...this is especially so of automotive parts, or similar, that are either hard to get or no longer available. I remember throwing out some worn bits of one of my Bultaco motorcycles and it was only a couple of years later I had a desperate, and ultimately expensive, search to replace the same parts (they ended up being made from scratch).

Sooo, it isn’t clutter, it is “man stuff”, and as such just waiting for reuse. For argument sake, I still have the first rifle I ever bought in 1969, a Krico .22 rimfire because it is still doing the job well.

being a "shifty" sort as my good wife always tells me..... (we have moved home more times than I care to count) stuff gets pruned back at every shift, yet seems to re acumulate again soon after.

I try not to be a hoarder but then I find a use for something that I've had stashed away for 5, 10, or even 20 years and it re-enforces my hoarding habit. But SWMBO tells me to let Home Depot keep the inventory for me.

Definitely a hoarder I am, to the point that even my new warehouse is almost full Sad

Ive kept a set of .30/06 dies for 20 years...the primer removing stem is broken and I dont own a .30/06
discovered that with sten removed from full length die I can make .308 cases "shrink" a wee tad more in the webb area even a factory loaded round gets a little "work" in this area....so it might just have saved me spending $120 to buy a small base sized die set to make reloads work through the BLR...hope to swap that rifle out for another Zastava soon. it functions flawlessly with factory loads as it is so will suit my non reloading friend.

Man what a sorry subject.....I've got stuff here and stuff there and stuff in stuff and on stuff, a garage full and an attic full. I need a stuff finder to find stuff I think I might have because sometimes I buy more stuff that I already have. Too many projects, not enough time, watch a YouTube video and get another project started, it goes on and on.

Just spent most of the winter making antennas for ham radio. Had to bring in stuff from the garage to tinker in the house because it's too cold out there to do it. My project room/reloading room/ham radio room is now also a workshop. I just set the antenna stuff aside to start building a computer for portable ham radio using digital receive and transmit so I need a light weight computer. So I have components coming in all the time to build this thing and empty boxes with the styro peanuts flying all over the place. It's a mess. I wonder sometimes if anyone else lives here. Would like to set them straight on cleaning up once in a while.

Oh yeah
Suz

I've got so much crap here I could be on a TV show. Not only do I hang on to stuff (magazines with good articles, old parts, computer stuff, ...) but I forget that I got new stuff and order it again a few months later. Do I really need 10 magazines (an order for 5 then another order for 5 several months later) for my Ruger Scout rifle?

Mike, shall I join your TV-show? But then even Vince's hide-out couldn't safe me anymore.
Having a lot of different stuff also means that you can fix many things, that you're clever AND handy!
And when you pile all up instead of a well-organized storage, this means you have a high IQ... you have to be able to memorize all different stockplaces instead of just knowing the system how it's organized...
but getting older sometimes you still know it's there somewhere, but cannot recall all immediatly...
being older AND experienced you know that you don't have to spend time on searching that item... just wait and there will come a moment that you suddenly remember everything... that's the moment you stop doing what you're doing and make time to do what you should have done when you had your (small) memory-loss.
Does anyone know the surname of Mr. Alzheimer? We do share the same saint who's celebrated each year on 21st June (when I remember correctly Smile )
I think Gelandagan once mentioned that it's not just stuff laying around, but it is indeed MY stuff!

Anyone need 12v cables for the trail camera?

Remembering where stuff is located is my problem now. I'm trying to stop stashing items away just return it.

I spent a few hours yesterday cleaning out a storage cabinet in the basement and putting stuff out for trash and recycling. My last wife left in 1992 and I just threw away her dishes from her prior marriage. So I am making progress and cleaning up. The trash truck and the recycling truck took everything away this morning.

I was taken aback when I was routing through a gun safe for something and came across a Smith & Wesson 4-inch and a Colt 2-inch both revolvers are .38 Special and I do not remember when or where I acquired them. The paperwork said I bought them and they are mine. Oh well. All the best...

I'm slowly working through 70 & more years worth of accumulations at my late friend's house.
There's so much stuff that "might" be useful & stuff that "might" be worth something but I've nowhere to put most of it.
I guess the charity shops will get a large part, such as clothes & crockery.

Gil,
One never has too much stuff, one simply has insufficient storage.
Cheers

I can't think of anything I have that won't serve a purpose. I rarely keep more than five of any one thing and mostly it's just two.
Well except for screws, nails and other fasteners. I keep a lot of them.
