Hang on, I can see some tracks off the right hand side of the road. I’d venture to say this pic is taken inside a big rail freight hub and the road is not a public road. There used to be a similar set up with rail tracks (probably not used in 60 or more years) going into what used to be one of the large military stores areas in Sydney.

There's more than a few places here in the UK where rails cross or even run along major roads, with no more than light controls.
IMO anyone getting squished deserves it for failing to pay attention...

correct,its in Gisborne....actually got asked that question in a pop quizz last night while on a SAREX .....heck of a lot of fun.

we have many places where tracks cross road...usually with lights and/or barrier arms....Blenheim has one set go through a roundabout on major road..... we used to have many road/rail bridges....most have been replaced,well a road bridge built to change it....

I think you’ll find that it’s a train enthusiasts opportunity to ride a steam train with period carriages mate...we have then here in Australia as well. Those that run these trains obviously have to bid for track time on the everyday system, or search out disused lines that they can refurbish and bring back online for these trains to use. Sooo, I’m going to hazard a guess at saying this is an old disused train line that the enthusiasts have recovered and put to good use...although this pic is no doubt staged to show a period type meeting of train and plane.
