MGD. good tequila, some dry earthy wines, Mead (a wine made from honey), and some mixed drinks that wouldn't be proper for a minister to say in public. Tequila and I are old friends - I don't try to kick his @ss and he don't kick mine. Its a mutual respect thing.

I'm a fan of most beers...so long as they are alcoholic... Very Happy Laughing Enjoy a drop of Guiness Stout too.

Really enjoy a drop of a nice red wine like a good Merlot, a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Pinot Noir. White wines are ok but I prefer the sweeter ones like a nice reisling, but then again you can't beat a nice Chardonnay. PaulS....Mead is too moreish...does terrible things to your head, but its a beautiful drink, as is Madiera (the best from Portugal).

As for spirits, I am a dedicated Scotch drinker.....Single Malts of course. Nothin' wrong with a decent Bourbon though, although they are hellish expensive here in Australia...good ones that is. The common garden variety JD etc is pretty cheap. My daughter brought home a bottle of Czech Absinthe (70% alcohol !!!!!) wtf when she went to Europe, now that stuff is LETHAL. Check it out here: LaFeeabsinthe

Vince,

They charge you alot of taxes on alcohol over in Australia, we got "sin" tax here for alcohol and tabacco and I hear they are going to raise it agian Sad

That 68% stuff I belive is illegal to import here seeing as sprites cannot have more then 40% alcohol to be imported I've been told. Tell me that stuff tasted good other then the alcohol content ?? Laughing

George,

How easy is it to brew your own ?? Confused

I am real picky, I like good beer, good burbon, good wine, good single malt scotch, good steaks and good ribs. Or better said, good drink and good food.

Drink water???? Hey Matt...you know what fish do in water mate! Wish I was only 35 again....boy would I have a ball. Very Happy

Dimitri....I brew my own mate. Its easy and worthwhile too. This is the kit I have to make beer. Makes 23 litres, or 30 750ml bottles, each time and costs about $AUD15 per batch. Much cheaper than about $AUD90 for the same quantity of commercial beer.

Coopers Homebrew

The exise on tobacco and alcohol is horrendous in Australia. I'm sure the govt see it as a "cash cow"...an easy target for income.

Vince,

We have big taxes on Alcohol and Tabacco here and they are saying they are going to make a BIG "sin" tax to help offset the cost of the doctor bills from people having drink and tobaco related problems Shocked

I'm going to have to find out where I can get homebrew beer kits. Mind you the beer I drink isn't too expensive a case of 24 is only 38$ plus GST/PST (yup thats right alcohol like tabbacco gets double taxed. wtf ) A Case of 24 cans of Guniess is 58$ and Heineken is for 24 bottles 44$ for a price comparason for anyone that is interested. Smile

single malt scotches who's names I'll probably screw up trying to type or pronounce have always served me well. I may have to purchase a bit for sipping after I'm done cleaning out my leisure suits. Beer? seldom but Kokanee and Coors...yeah that's about it.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while - dealing with a few things.
Miller or Bush bought out the Olympia brewery - they do have Oly beer but I don't care for it - MGD is better - less after-taste.
