I was looking at the post about Hodgdon vs. IMR and noticed that if several of your houses catch fire that the fireman better pay attention to the speed you exit the burning house (or neighborhood). Surprised

Then I looked in my closet when putting up the two cans of H-870 I just bought. Shocked Surprised

Knowing my volenteer fire department they won't even save the chimneys if they see me running out of the house. Twisted Evil As if the Accurate, Alliant, Hodgdon, IMR, and Hercules powders were not enough I also have an ample supply of GOEX FFG, Cleanshot FFG & Pellets, Pyrodex RS FFG & Pellets, and Triple Se7en FFG & Pellets. AND all of that is in the closet with the primers and loaded ammo. Rolling Eyes

Now that would be a sight if it cooked off Exclamation Shocked

Haha. Yea I probably have more Black Powder than I do all other types of smokeless combined. GOEX FF, FFF, Pyro RS, Pyro P, Pyro RS, 777 etc etc. I dont know how it would react in fire... if it would explode or not. Perhaps I'll do an experiement with an old bottle of pyro in a big open area with a fire one of these days.

First, if it is in an open area and not contained in any way, the blackpowder should just burn out. Now, if you get a spark in even an open container. BIG BOOM! Don't ask. As for powder, Popgun got me thinking because I store powder in three different places, so I did an inventory. 52 one pound containers and one 8 pound can. Maybe I need to rethink my powder supply. Some of this powder hasn't been used on my bench for ten years. Still good, just don't use that powder anymore.

I was at WalleyWorld tonight doing some shopping when I saw, of all things, packages of fireworks for sale. Aparently the law changed this year in Georgia allowing some fireworks sales. I will have to look that up and see just how much in my closet is contraband and how much is legal now. Laughing

The governmenbt is talking about limiting the amount of powder we can have on hand. I've never heard of a house fire related to storage of gun powder. Most people are very safe with it, but that won't make any difference to Canadian politicians making the laws. They're really a bunch of dips, excelling only in finding ways to steal our money. Enough. I don't want to go into a rant. Best wishes.

California only allows 20 lbs to be stored at your home. I'm close to that, I think. Heck, that's my story and I'm sticking to it! Wink

I was watching the news the other night and saw that in New Jersey, a retired policeman was arrested for having a large gun collection, ammunition and smokeless powder on hand. Seems the local police charged him with threatening a catastrophe and had the national guard load up his stuff.

I am reluctant to tell folks what I got. Fortunately, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does not limit our powder supplies on hand. I believe there are federal guidelines, but not legislation. All the best...

There's talk in Canada about our being limited to 5lbs. maximum. Loading for 13 different calibers I need to have on hand a lot more than 5lbs. That wouldn't even suffice for my varmint rifles. Did you ever notice how the different levels of government are rapidly becoming public enemy number one? They can really get under your skin with their inane laws.
Best wishes.
