In my opinion they should atleast know it was a atemp with American supplies/money and Cuban exiles to overthrow the Castro goverment. If not more details on why the plan failed. Smile

This is the same class that when I asked what they knew about the Holocaust told me about the movies they saw and the other half staired like I had an extra head. Most did know it "was like when a lot of Jews died." I have no idea what they are teaching these kids but I know what I'm teacing them and found out that it's not on "THE TEST" so they don't care.

The next generation, however, is not the only generation to have problems with significant historical information. Few of voting age remember Pablo Escobar or Che or their impact on current affairs.

Geography is comparably bad. Give someone a map of the lower 48 and ask them to fill in the name of the states and few can do that. Try Europe or South America! Some even believe South America is a country! Ask them to point out Bosnia or Croatia or, even, to find Iraq! Asia's map would be totally blank. Find Mount Everest? Tasmania?

If that isn't somewhat discouraging, how about gun owners that can't tell you the make or model of the firearm for which they are trying to find ammo, magazines or holsters.

These are easier to describe than the cure. Who's fault is it anyway that kids have dumbed down so much? Or, is it that revelant information is conveyed differently? How easily the "kids" learn to use computers, MP3, and other technologies that leave the older generation scratching their collective heads.

I've stopped negotiating. I shop around a fair bit, have got to know whose prices are best. I then buy what I need from the better priced supplier.
But something that has been the big deciding factor is SERVICE if I don't get it they don't get my money.
I have voted with my feet and there are a few shops that I just don't visit anymore. And I am buying more than I ever have.
Negotiators to me are the 'Black Catters' you will never buy better than them, So I usually quote double what I pay.

Yeah we're way off topic on the negotiating thing, but I found that interesting.

I took an accounting course a few years ago (zzzz) and the instructor was a certified management accountant so he knew his stuff. One day, after hearing "is this going to be on the test?" I don't know how many times, he turned to the student who asked and said, "Every day is the test when you're doing this for a living." Always kind of liked that

Well I kindof started on topic and did the great changing lines without signaling or like I was told by a teacher I changed freeways without the use of a transition ramp. I think it started with them negotiating for a grade and went bad from there. SORRY ME BAD

Oh, not like we're all really great at staying on topic anyway, we all seem to bounce from pillar to post in these conversations.... Smile

In the final analysis, all subjects are interrelated. Discussions, like history itself, seldom are linear, rather, they take a cyclic nature in which "staying on topic" itself is often irrelevant, and, one could suggest, unnatural.

One of our main life challenges is to understand how all input and all information is unifying.
