The IMR metal cans are history.

I purchased a 1 lb. contained of IMR4831 this morning. To my shockj, after many years as an IMR user, the powder was in a round, plastic container much as is the current Hodgdon powders. I guess that's natural seeing as how Hodgdon purchased IMR, but it still came as a shock. The metal cans are simply no more. Darn it I should have been saving them as a future collectors item. but too late now. Best wishes.

Yup, those metal cans are good collectibles; in fact at our gunshop we have about 50 old powder cans from by gone years. I liked those mental IMR cans because they stored with minimal space and were easier to organize than the round plastic ones Hodgdon is now using.

Those round plastic ones, however, are better for storage. Some of the metal cans can get rust around the joints and once the metal seal is prized from the top they aren't as moisture resistant as the plastic.

That's the way it goes. I visit a gun shop that still has metal cans of some IMR powders and I and slowly buying ip what is on hand. All the best...

I guess we are going to have to stop saying cans of powder and start saying bottles. I sure liked the old way.

I don't have a lot of storage area in my reloading room. Those old metal cans of IMR take up a lot less space than the round ones of Hodgdon, only about half as much space is required. When you srart collecting a lot of stuff every little bit of saved space helps. Best wishes.
