Bushy,
Go ahead and tell the truth! We've got a hunch your wife won't let you hang trophys in the house.
Unless you're like me and have a trophy wife and have no desire to have anything else hanging around the house to look at. Ha Ha!

Meat, then leather, then if somone's asked for antlers for some use, I give 'em to them. Can't be bothered with trophies, I know what I shot and when I shot it, don't really care who else knows or what they think about it. I like what Gelan said about the hunt, nothing compares to being out there.

tracker, That pretty much sums up my view on the matter. When asked what I got last season? most often my responce is" MEAT IN THE FREEZER", Or.... "Nothing", Thats why they call it Hunting, Not Killing.
A buddy of mine gets the antlers for makeing pipes and knife handles.

I can buy prime rib or filet mignon far cheaper than the cost per pound of deer or elk or antelope. Now, I like game meat, but, for me, it is the secondary prize of the hunt. I'll pass on the younger stuff (game animals, that is) always looking for that monster mulie, that 125 Coues, that massive 6X6. The Quest.

Slots918 pretty much has it. THE HUNT...Good camp company, time away from those you would like to see go to "another place" and time enjoying the fruits of a successful HUNT.
And handloader is correct too. It does and always has cost more to hunt then to go to the super market or butcher, But that is the cost of admission...I, also, hunt for meat, but will not pass up a big one if it happens across my trail...
Slots918...Welcome to this fine site. In as much as Vince has already offered you that beer and the stump...Do join in...

I'm more interested in the meat. I see a bigger 8 point buck lets say and see very little special then the little spikes on the other buck.
I just don't admire it like others do I guess. Food is something I can appreciate however.

For those who have said this, Please tell me how 200LBS of venison I shoot with a $1.99 cartridge, useing a gun I didnt buy, but inheratid, butchering it my self, Costs more than the same 200LBS of Beef? The average cost of beef here is $2.00per pound and up depending on the cuts. Crap! Ground beef is 1.99 LB!
$1.99 cartridge
$15.00 lisence
$0.00 gun
my time butchering ???? Aint costing me anything, Im doing it my self!
And to top it off, I/we eat Squirrel, Rabbits, Ground hog, Coon, and the occasional Opossum. As well as Pheasant, quail, Duck and goose. We are close enough to Ohio to hunt Dove now and again as well.
If i paid some one to process all the game we consumed, we would go broke doing it then, but only then. Its all just my oppinion.

Opossum? I got some down here you can have...
Camp supplies, hunting license, tag, gas, ammunition (for practice, sighting in and shooting the game) and wear and tear on equipment such as tent, vehicle, firearms and other assendry items needed for hunting trips...Still worth every penny...

Well now that im feeling better, Walking to and from the hunting area is not out of the question. And I can take a blogna sandwich with me. Only break out the quad if and when there is an animal down. might cost me an extra dollar to drag it home.
