I have a couple of Mosin Nagants that I shoot mostly Czech Silvertip through. I have a couple of boxes of American made ammo that I would like to reload. I read somewhere that the ComBloc 7.62 is .311 instead of .308. Is this correct? And where do I find .311 bullets to use in my reloading? Thanks

That is correct. The 7.62x54R, 7.62x39, 7.7 Jap, and .303 British all use the same diameter bullet. For your purposes, any bullet that works in the 303 Brit will work in you Soviet rifle. They are available from most reloading suppliers.

I would suggest that if you persist in shooting the Nagant, you should also get an SMLE to balance out. That way, you will want to buy twice as many bullets to keep them both fed. Wink

I use .311 Dia. to reload and they work fine. The 303 brit works great. Sierra makes a nice bullet. If you go to mosin nagant.com they have some good reloading data.

Thanks for the help fellas. I can't help but let you know that my sweetie is a little different from a lot of gals, she not only likes me to buy guns and ammo, she sometimes buys them for me(she's a keeper)! Very Happy

WARNING: A difference is in bore diameter between mosins. Mosins of eastern europe (Russia, Romania, Czech republic, etc) has .311 bore diameter. Finn mosins and western copies (US and others) has .308 bore diameter. Be sure which type you have!

Then do not be afraid and buy Sierra Match King 174gr bullets, which are probably the best for reloading 7.62x54R

Slug the bore and find out.
Can't go wrong that way.
