I was scanning through Davidson's website as I tend to do quite often, when I noticed a sale they were having on both the 50th Anniversary Blackhawk in .357 mag. and the .44 mag. I checked on the price and through my local dealer either could be had for under $380! Well a man can only stand for that kind of thing for so long before doing something about it. I ordered the .357 version this morning for $369 and with tax, transfer and background check it totals $417. Hopefully I'll have it sometime next week. It should make for a good field carry handgun. Now I have to find a good heavy cast load for it.

I gotten my last two Ruger's from Davidson's. Usually save 1-200$ in the process over a dealer, and a lot more over Ruger's MSRP. Plus, ya git the Lifetime Warty.

That 50TH is a sweet ride. Too sweet and purdy for a field-carry. Give it to me and getta SS version.... Wink

Enjoy and congrats.

stovepipe,
I've bought my last two guns through Davidsons. The first was their Marlin 1895 SDT an exclusive that I couldn't have gotten elsewhere. This revolver is the second purchase from them and if I hadn't been so pleased with the first sale, I wouldn't have gone back for another. The price is much lower than I've ever seen them sell for locally. Davidson's was very quick with shipping and very good about keeping me informed of the process along the way.
As for the gun being too pretty to carry, well I can't own a gun and not shoot it so I'll just have to call any wear it gets character and move on from there. LOL!!
Don.

I used to use the Lyman 214 gr 357 mold and then use the bullet over a 14 gr chg of WW680 for about 1100 fps. Course the powder is out of production now. It were a heavily compressed load. Used it to whack on the 200 meter rams when shooting IHMSA with my S&W 586.

Well, you asked for a heavy cast bullet load. Cheers

Here's the BH with a holster I had made by Mike Keenan of Timely Accessories. www.timelyaccessories....sters.html He does great work at a very reasonable price. This holster is similar to a shoulder holster, but the holster actually sits lower and more towards your front. Very similar to the one worn by Doc Holiday in the movie Tombstone.

Big Blue: nice Ruger. Flat Tops have a special place in Ruger history and lore.

Ruger, through Lipsey's, is producing a limited run of FT 44 Specials on the same frame. These will be due in the First and second quarter of this year and should sell for about the same price.

The FT 357 gives you lots of customizing options ranging from doing nothing to a superb revolver, to XR3RED or SBH steel frames, different hammers, etc. Great choice as is or as a custom.

My only Ruger, but certainly my favorite handgun, 1977 Police Service Six.

OK, sorry I obviously do not know how to post an image in a forum thread. Sorry, but the FAQ is not helping me.

Suggestions are appreciated.

From what I've heard, Ruger will be shipping the first batch of .44 Spec. to Lipsey's this week. I am very sorely tempted by it, but I know they already have quite a waiting list.
BTW-I won a set of elk stag grips for the BH last night on EBay. Can't wait to get them on it.
