Online gun sales are going to send me to the poor house! It's just too easy!! You sit, look and drool and next thing you know a new gun is on it's way!!! I think it was an out of mind experience!!!!
Anyway that's how it started today, it ended with me ordering a Howa Ranchland rifle in .308 with a 20" barrel and Hogue stock. Here's a stock photo. The rifle should be in by the middle of the week.

That can be a problem. I guess you will just have to go with the flow. Take care...

If I remember right the Howa was formerly the Smith & Wesson 1500, if that is correct they are great shooting guns. I have a S&W 30-06 and just love it.

My mate's Howa Mountaineer in .223 is almost identical, right down to the last screw, to my Weatherby Vanguard.
A nice rifle that shoots very well.

Besides the Weatherby Vanguard and Smith and Wesson M1500, I've heard Howa also made a rifle for Mossberg. I believe it was also called a Model 1500. While not as popular as the Remington 700 action, I've heard that many custom rifle builders also use the Howa action.
I think I got a pretty good deal on this rifle from Davidson's. Including tax, transfer and background check, I'm out the door rifle in hand for $429.

I like the howa just built a .280Ackley on one w a hart barrel waiting on Thomas Manners to complete the stock supposed to be worth the wait I'll let you know. I love the machine work in the upper receiver top notch all the way the bottom metal not so much still contemplating a solution to that.

just spoke with cdi precision today on the phone he's making bottom metal for howa short actions (.308) that will take AICS accuracy international magazines allowing you a 5 or 10 detatchable box long actions are on the way (nov or dec) I've already placed my order for a l.a.. that would make a fine "varmint rifle".

While the 175 gr. Berger bullets didn't work all that well in the Howa, I did have better luck with lighter bullets. The best three shot group I was able to get at 100 yards used Hornady 150gr. SSTs over 47.0gr. of Varget and measured .74" center to center. I'll play with that load a bit, but it looks pretty promising as is. The 165gr. Sierra Gamekings didn't do too bad either with a three shot group measuring 1.0" using 44.5gr. of Varget.
