Day 2:
Hours in stand 5 1/2
Hours walking 2 1/4
Deer in woods 1
Deer on road 0
I finally got to see one in the woods!!!!! To bad it was bouncing all over the place. There was no way to even think abut getting a shot.
Sitting alongside Mother Nature....... still priceless.

I've seen fresh sign all over the place but that don't taste near as good as fresh venny on the grill.

Years ago I bow hunted a spot for a week straight that looked like a cow pasture with it's fresh sign...........never saw a deer !!!
It was the only spot we found acorns that year and the trails coming in and out were unbelievable........ go figure !!!

Sounds familiar! I think the deer are using night vision. The moon has been pretty bright again. The trails are heavy, fresh scrapes everywhere, rubs all over and not a deer to be found.

Sounds like my experience so far. Tons of fresh tracks (rained Thursday night and I hunted Sat) but didn't see any. Could be the moon and hunting pressure made them nocturnal.

Funny you should say that Punkin. I've seen more deer (Fallow) at night than I have during the day.
I know it is illegal in your neck of the woods, and you probably don't agree with it, but as deer are considered feral vermin here where I live...it is totally legal to spotlight them. I have a mate who averages 5 or 6 deer every time he goes out at night.
Cheers, Vince

Where about is this Vince?
Down here, we are not allowed to use spotlights for deer either..
Heck with the R license, there is totally NO spotlight allowed!!
On the other hand, with the NP&W almost all deer culls in National parks are done with spotlights.

Day 4:
Worked late tonight.
So I went to my favorite taxidermist and picked up my ducks.
