Actually these bans may make lead prices go down. Less demand.

Went to a tire shop recently where a friend of mine works to get a repair. While I was there I asked him if he had a bucket of old weights I could have, he looked at the owner and then they both looked at me and busted out laughing. ROFL

I get through about half a ton of lead every year for fishing weights (I own a fishing tackle store).
Most houses in the UK use lead flashings to seal joins to walls & for gulleys & I buy the old stuff & offcuts from a roofing contractor who is a customer.
This is pretty much pure lead, so to harden it I used to use wheel weights too until the lead ones were banned. Now I add printer's metal I get from another customer & it seems to work at pretty much the same 20:1 ratio.
Maybe it'd work as a ww replacement for casting bullets too?

English Mike:

I recently had a new roof put on my house and new flashing, they used aluminum flashing as lead flashing around my area is frowned upon. When I asked the contractor I hired he told me that the lead flashing was the best there was, but with environmentalists and what have you not put the price skyward here. In my area, even the 50% solder or 90-10 solder is hard to get, it's getting replaced by lead alternatives around here.
