Geland you actually were a help to me because of your knife building photos of the knife show and some knife building videos on YouTube. Some of the machines they use and techniques polishing metal was very helpful. The butt plate and nose cap on the forestock were sand cast without any finishing and so I had to polish and do a little shaping. It was funner than the wood work because it was smaller to work with and I got results fast.
Originally I was going to cut the barrel about 6 inches and shorten the forestock but I thought I'd try it without cutting first and see how i like it. My inspiration for cutting it down was from the photo below.
Although it's not the same gun I really like the looks of it and the metal in the white, but with the way my gun's forestock attaches I really couldn't find a nice way to shorten it to this degree without some soldering or welding and I just don't want to risk my blunders on this gun. (saved me some moooola too)
