After jumping through all the hoops put in place by the PTB here, I'm close to procuring three or four new rifles.
Due to the BS 'good reason' stuff applied here, I'm divesting myself of an Accuracy International AX-13 in .243win & a .22lr CZ455 as the latter is a right hand, thumbhole stock & I'm a lefty.
The AI is 0.5MOA accurate even in my hands but there's no way I'm humping that over the hills on a deer stalk.
Going to replace the 455 with my 452 that has lived at the local club for five years, then add three near identical rifles - Schultz & Larsen Victory in 22-250, .243 & .270.
If I head for Africa as planned in 2019, I can easily use the switch barrel system to turn one of them into a .375 Ruger suitable for any plains game I'm likely to target.
Roll on January, when I'll have the time to get all this in motion...

Sorry you have to make decisions like that. Like choosing among your kids. If the Libs here have their way, we'll be doing that one day.

Worst of it is the two rifles I have to trade in were left to me by my friend & shooting partner.
At least I have both his shotguns & there's no restrictions on how many of those I can acquire.

As Single Shot said...it’s like choosing which child to get rid of...not an easy or agreeable job. Having said that mate, I do like the look of the Victory...it is one damn fine looking rifle, and the stock they show on their website is simply gorgeous. I don’t think you have made a bad choice mate. I look forward to a range report.

My next range report will be for the SLR matey - all the way from Albuquerque, NM. Very Happy

I don't know how you do it mate? Live in one country but doing most of your shooting in another.

I used to commute 3 weeks a month to work in the UK. I did that for 2 years. One trip I sat next to a long distance runner from the UK. He liked coming to the US to run his marathons. He would buy his supply of running shoes over here and the savings would pay for his plane ticket.

Being denied access to handguns & semi auto's here doesn't leave me much choice but it does give me the excuse to get over the Pond a couple of times a year

I've got costs down to no more than the flight, as I've a mate in Albuquerque I stay with most trips, or at this time of year, up with mates in northern GA/AL too.
I doubt my six weeks a year in the US costs me $2,000 more than staying at home (so long as I don't count the powder, primers & bullets...).
I usually bring stuff back that offsets the flight costs too - if only it could be powder, as it's now around $60/lb here. Sad
