Hot damn Mr Dallan. Looks like the pres. has given you more hunting grounds. Or should I say he is returning what was yours in the first place. Smile

I'm glad to see it happen -- and now for some more places to do it to

What a cluster****.

I'm happy with this current situation, with the reduction. As the presidential powers clearly state when giving the authority to declare Nat Monuments, it is restricted to the "smallest size possible". Clinton and Obama clearly went for a maximum size without considering some of those ramifications.

Here's a fun fact that the liberal media never mentions, under the initial size of the proposed Bears Ears monument, there was over 100,000 acres of privately owned ground within the border of the Monument. Think about that for a moment. A president declared a Nat Monument that encompassed 100,000 acres of privately owned land. All of that land would be restricted for development for the landowners. Its ridiculous.

Another thing is the supposed "preservation of the area". The issue I have with that is prior to the BE monument proposal, very few people even knew about it. It was protected just out of obscurity. But the cat is out of the bag now, its being currently overrun with people rushing to visit the area. Things are getting trashed, vandalized, stolen etc etc. The protection, rangers / officers etc, haven't been put in place yet.

One of my major pet peeves currently is that we have areas with historical access for over 100 years via roads and trails, that are suddenly being closed down. I got news for some of the liberal coast dwellers... some of these areas are so big you CANNOT carry enough water to walk across it. By closing some of these 100 year old access roads, massive areas will effectively be closed to human access just from water needs.

Final thoughts. President Clinton didnt have the testicals to even be in Utah when he designated the Grand Staircase Nat Monument, he did it from Arizona. Obama didnt have the testicals to be in Utah either for the BE announcement. Trump got on a plane, flew here and stood in front of the people at the capitol to sign the order to reduce the size. Trump does alot of dumb stuff IMO, but things like this impress me about the man.

Final final thought... this region with Bears Ears, Grand Staircase... have had indian civilizations for thousands of years. Indian Artifacts, Ruins, pottery, arrow heads etc are extremely common through out the entire region.

I agree with protecting alot of things, but frankly... almost every rock on earth is a billion years old.
