I touched base with Radar this morning. He is good, no problems and he is well clear of any tsunami threat, so he is sitting back watching and waiting.

8.1 is a big bugger.
Loads of small quakes happening elsewhere round the ring of fire too.
This ball of rock's getting antsy again & every time it does, the outcome is dire for those caught up when it scratches the itch.

Cascadia subduction zone is still quiet, maybe it's waiting for summer break to fill the beaches. it may have to wait another year the way Washington and Oregon are going.

Maybe sit him down and have him watch the 2004?asian and 2011? Japanese tsunami videos. 240,000 dead in the first nearly 16,000 for the second.
It may then strike him he isnt immortal and give him some idea of what could have happened.

You have my sympathy mate. We all know he was raised well, with as much love and guidance as any kid would ever need to set up a good and honest life...it’s anybody’s guess as to why he went off the rails...my guess is booze.

I agree with Mike...make him watch the Japanese and Indonesian tsunamis...maybe he will see some sense. Barring that, hopefully he won’t be out fishing if and when a big one hits and the sea comes calling.

Impossible to say. I theorized there might be connections like that, but none of the data has ever been able to demonstrate such a relationship. We'll just have to wait and watch. No matter what, we simply wouldn't have the ability to predict a quake in a way to prevent damage and save lives.
