Not sure how that particular rifle is adjusted for windage, but you may find out that it is sighted in for 100 yards. If so, it would shoot high at 50 yards. Most 30-30's are sited for the 100 yard mark. If memory serves me right and it does for my Winchester .30-30 you will have to use a brass drift and a hammer to move the rear sight left or right. If it is hitting right of the target bullseye then drift the rear sight to the left by hitting it on the left side with the brass drift and hammer. That will make the front sight move to the left. It won't take much. So don't hit it too hard. Don't mess with the front sight unless it has been damaged.

Yup... Wncchester's right. Had to go back and correct my post. Move the rear sight to the LEFT (sorry 'bout that...CRS). I do hope you mean with an unloaded or fired (empty) Shocked case though...

When looking towards the muzzle, move rear sights in the direction you wish to move the impact. So, you want to raise the rear up and then tap the whole sight to the left in its dovetail slot.

IF you don't have a brass drive punch - and most of us don't - you can use the head of a cartridge as a pad against the sight base and tap that with a small hammer. A rimless cartridge works best. Place the extractor groove over the exposed rounded edge of the sight's base.

It won't take much movement to change the windage impact a couple of inches.
