As stated before, one of my shooting partners and I have been testing some new LSWC bullets for our .41 MAGs at the range, using different powers with different drops.
The load and recipe that we settled on was bullets swaged with just wheel weights, with just a tad of tin add, using 15.7gr of IMR 4227 power.
Our average velocity for five shots was 946fps, with hardly no leading in our pistols.

This is the first time that I used this powder.
I normally shoot Unique for my .41, but boy the 4227 blew the Unique loads right out of the water.
There was no comparison.

Does anybody have experience using IMR 4227 with other loads, and if so, should I be testing this on other calibers??

Eric

Most guys I’ve come across over the years that were serious about shooting lead in a wheel gun have shot one of three powders.
IMR 4227, H4227, and 2400

I have used IMR4227 in many .44 magnum loads and was impressed with it. All the best...
