it looks like a cow to me.. thats a navel not a pizzle.
we have stories of a large black cat here in canterbury but no one has shot one yet to prove it. feral cats do get large and if they are in the open without anything to give you scale it is easy to misjudge size or distance.

can't help myself. I think this one is all cows.

Considering that the big cat stories are supposed to have come from unit mascots released during WW II, it is hard to imagine that there is any fact to them. Consider:

1. The age of a big cat released back then (80 yrs ago)...do big cats live that long?
2. If there was a number released, and through breeding they have survived this long, why isn't there concrete evidence of their existence (they can't hide for that long)?
3. The "evidence" claimed to be of big cat attacks has not yielded any proof (DNA etc) of big cat activity.
4. There are a lot of hunters in Victoria, and it is hard to believe that not even a single one of them has encountered any.
5. The marks on the cow's rump (yes it is a cow, a heifer actually) do not prove existence of big cats. If a big cat had actually got hold of that cow in the manner the marks show, that cow would not be be standing there now. Also, there would be more damage than just three scratches. When a big cat attacks it is tooth and claw combined.

Maybe there was a big cat released 70 - 80 years ago, but if so, they would not be around now.
