My brother and I put up a bit more insulation in the garage this morning and then headed for the range. We took the chronograph with the new diffuser to try it out. I sighted my 22 in at 80 yards for the coming silhouette season and then fired 10 rounds through the chronograph. I got an average of 1208 fps with the blazer ammo that I am using so now I can check out the ballistics curve and compare it to the targets I shot at 60, 40, and 20 yards.

My brother then fired his 357 through the chronograph and got an average velocity of 2350 fps! This is with 140 grain bullets and it should be around 1000 fps slower. I gave him some of my reloads to shoot and goth the expected 1320 fps with 18 grains of H110. His loads are supposed to be 17.4 grains of H110 so I had him fire five more of his. The 2300+ fps was duplicated. The fired cases fell out of the cylinder, the primers were showing slight flattening but no cratering. I told him we were going to pull one down to see just how much powder was in there.

Anyway, the prototype diffuser worked great and the chronograph didn't miss a shot - even with the clear blue sky and sunlight coming from just right of through the openings. I am a happy camper!
